COURSE CONTENT AND OBJECTIVES

Brainspotting is a targeted therapeutic approach that locates, works through, and discharges the underlying neurophysiological roots of emotional and physical distress, traumatic material, dissociation, and a wide range of difficult symptoms. It functions as diagnosis and treatment at the same time, supported by BioLateral sound — an approach that is at once deep, direct, and potent while remaining focused and safely held.

The method centers on locating activated eye positions known as Brainspots. These can be found through one eye or both, and are identified either through the “Inside Window” — what the client notices in their own felt sense — or through the “Outside Window,” meaning the therapist’s observation of reflexive cues such as blinking, twitches or wobbles of the eye, changes in pupil size, sudden intakes of breath, and small shifts in the body.

Training begins with the phenomenological foundation that Brainspotting strategies rest on, then moves into methods for finding and processing Brainspots. Participants will also look at how to fold Brainspotting into treatment already underway, including work with highly dissociative clients. The approach adapts to nearly any clinical specialization, giving clinicians tools that help clients focus on and move through deep-brain sources of emotional, somatic, and performance-related difficulties efficiently.

Using lecture, live demonstration, and small-group practice, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the elements that make up Brainspotting
  • Apply both “Inside Window” and “Outside Window” techniques
  • Explain how Brainspotting can be used with trauma, dissociation, sports psychology, and somatic presentations
  • Demonstrate Brainspotting theory in practice
